Harry Potter Snacks will let the kids and adults have good food and a taste of England. Yorkshire delights (also known as Yorkshire puddings) are in Harry Potter, but all of England eats it. Also, the cookie glasses (Luna’s Spectrespecs) can be make without the candy middles if you wish.

Yorkshire Delights Equipment and Ingredients:

Equipment needed:

Muffin tin or popover pan

2 cup measuring cup

Bowls

For the Meatballs:

8 oz. of ground beef

1 shallot finely chopped or 2 tbsp finely chopped onion

1/2 tsp finely chopped fresh rosemary

Pinch of salt and pepper

2 tbsp light olive oil or vegetable oil

For the Batter:

1 cup flour

1/2 tsp salt

2 lg eggs

1 cup milk

How to Assemble the Yorkshire Delights:

Preheat oven to 450˚F. Mix together the beef, shallot, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Roll into twelve even sized balls.

Meatballs in muffin tin

Pour 1/2 teaspoon of oil into each hole in the muffin or popover pan. Heat pan in the oven for five minutes. Add a meatball into each pan and return to the oven for five minutes. In the meantime, make the batter.

Put the flour and salt into a bowl and make a well in the center. Then add the eggs and a 1/2 cup of milk. Whisk together, and add the other 1/2 cup of milk. Combine until the batter is pourable. Pour the batter into a 2 cup measuring cup. Take out the pan from the oven, and quickly fill each section half full with the batter. Bake for 12–15 more minutes until well risen and golden.

Serve warm.

*You can make this sweet, by omitting the meat balls, and cooking the batter at 450° for 12 minutes. Drizzle with melted chocolate, maple syrup or honey and serve warm.

Luna’s Spectrespecs Cookie Equipment and Ingredients:

Equipment:

Spectrespecs stencil

1 inch round cookie cutters

Food processor

Plastic wrap

Baking sheets

Parchment paper

Cookie Ingredients:

2 1/3 cups flour

1 3/4 sticks cold butter

3/4 cup powdered sugar

1 lg egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

Decoration Ingredients:

24 hard candies- such as life savers or jolly ranchers. Also, you can do any color(s), I do different colors, not just blue and pink like Luna’s are.

1 egg white-see optional at the bottom

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar-see optional at the bottom

Pink food coloring-see optional at the bottom

How to Make the Spectrespecs:

Flour and butter and powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 375˚F. Then, put flour in a food processor and pulse in butter. (I used a kitchen-aid mixer bowl for pictures ONLY. DO NOT use a kitchen-aid mixer for mixing it.) Add powdered sugar and pulse 3-4 times.

Flour with egg and vanilla

Add egg and vanilla and blend to a smooth dough.

Cookie dough in plastic wrap

Put dough into plastic wrap and chill for about an hour. In the meantime, cut out Luna’s Spectrespecs Cookie Template.

Luna's Spectrespecs cookie dough

Split dough in half, and keep one half in the fridge. Roll the other half on a floured surface until it is a 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out with a knife around the edge of the template. Use the cookie cutters to cut the middle out. Repeat until there is not enough dough together to make a full cookie. Put the scraps back in the fridge and continue cutting with the other half. You should have 12 cookies once all the dough is used up. Place on parchment paper and bake for 5 minutes. Take out, and add one hard candy into the middle of EACH hole. Bake for an additional 5 minutes.

Luna Lovegood Spectrespecs Cookies

If there are any gaps in the holes that are not filled with the hot candy syrup, use a toothpick and push the syrup against the side.

*Optional: Pink Frosting

Mix the egg white and powdered sugar and a few drops of frosting together. Spread them onto the dough part of the cookie.

Your Harry Potter Snacks are complete!
